Firework Romper

Romeo + Juliet Couture Romper - c/o Marshalls
Felt Hat - Target (little girls' section)
Booties - Forever 21 ($3.99)

I know the groundhog saw it's shadow, but here in the Bay Area, we're experiencing some spring days and I'm enjoying every bit of them. I wore this breezy romper (a recent purchase from Marshalls) for a day full of sunshine. I love everything about this romper- the firework print, the boho sleeves, and the surplice top. The romper is a light weight material, but the darker print keeps it from looking too summery. Don't be afraid to break our summery pieces during winter. It usually just takes a few layers or a pair of tights to completely transform a summery outfit for those cooler months. In this case, I accessorized with grey accents in my booties and a felt hat to restyle this spring romper. I was on the fence about the hat when I first saw it at Target (in the little girls' section), but I think the smaller brim keeps it from being too much. And it was only $9.99! Gotta love the kids' section.

I've realized that one thing I totally fail at is accessorizing.
Especially in the jewelry department. The only thing I ever wear is my nose hoop, mainly because it's literally stuck on. I think I squeezed it too tight when I put it on and now it's on for good! If I ever do get it off, I'm going to switch it with this cute rose gold hoop from FreshTrends. The only plus-side to rarely accessorizing is that Uriah doesn't try to pull my necklaces off!I think the next investment will be a watch because I tend to keep my accessories very minimal.
Any suggestions for cute and not too expensive watch?

Florals and Lace

Blouse: c/o Marshalls
Skirt: Forever 21
Heels: Steve Madden
Necklace: Forever 21

I’ve been drawn to bright prints that really make a statement- so when I saw this blouse at Marshalls I was sold. Even more sold when I saw its clearance price (only $8). The watercolor print paired with a beautiful peplum silhouette made this blouse a real showstopper. I kept the rest of the outfit keeping with similar colors from the blouse. The purple/blue color really stood out to me, so I decided a delicate navy skirt was not only the perfect color, but also a nice textural contrast from the top.

Sequined Chevron Mini

Blouse: Plato's Closet ($9)
Sequined Mini: Marshalls
Chinese Laundry Heels: Plato's Closet ($11)
Vintage Givenchy Clutch: Thrifted

If you follow me on Instagram (@FrancescaPenko) you might recognize my outfit. I wore this to my cousin's beautiful wedding last weekend; my inspiration came from my Summer Wedding look-book I put together for this blog post. I opted for a bright, chevron skirt and kept the rest of my look neutral. This outfit was the perfect burst of color and comfortable enough to dance the whole night!

Thank you SO much to everyone who watched my YouTube video and left all the positive feedback. It was something I was super nervous to upload and share, so I was blown away by the amazing response. I appreciate each and every comment- looking forward to uploading my next video!

Blush Skirt

Thursday, June 28, 2012

Tank: Marshalls
Lace Skirt: Forever 21 (only $18!)
Pumps: Steve Madden
Bracelet: Kohls
Sunnies: Tjmaxx (another cute style here)

This blush skirt has such beautiful detailing, so I decided to keep the rest of my outfit simple to showcase the skirt. I added some blush peep-toe heels, a cream sweater tank, cat-eye sunnies and my Burberry tote to tie in all the colors. It was the perfect feminine and chic outfit for a pretty summer day.

Mint Sandals

Mint Blouse: H&M ($7)
Paige Skinny Jeans: Marshalls
Sandals: H&M
Clutch: Vintage

I always see cute shoes from H&M on the internet, but they are ALWAYS sold out when I go into the store. I was so excited to see these in-stock at my local mall. Normally, I lean towards neutral shoes but I love these three colors so much that it wasn't a hard decision to buy them :)
I added some simple ankle skinny jeans, similar to the denim by Buffalo by David Bitton, and this gorgeous minty lace blouse I scored for only $7!

Lace Tunic

Tahari Tunic-Thrifted ($4) (similar here)
Belt: Thrifted ($2)
Gladiator Sandals: Ross ($8)(similar here)

I went thrifting last week and was debating on this tunic the whole trip. I was going to skip on it, but then the cashier told me it was 30% off and how could I say no to that?! It was a little too short so I added a simple black dress underneath and a fun pop of neon in the middle. Not only is this dress super comfortable but it doesn't compromise on the chic factor. Plus, this whole outfit cost under $20 :)
In this Bay Area heat, dresses are my latest go-to outfits for keeping cool and staying fashionable.
