Slowing Down

Saturday, January 7, 2017

Suede jacket, Paige jeans, Sam Edelman studded heels - c/o Marshalls
Alexis blouse - Nordstrom Rack

Yesterday I reached the 31 week mark in my pregnancy. I was thinking that in around 8 weeks I'll have another little one, sleepy eyes, and a full(er) heart. I'm really taking the time to slow down, especially on work, and savor these few weeks with Uriah. I know a lot of parents always say that they struggle or have fear around this time when they're expecting their second. When the time comes and our sweet baby is here, my heart will double in size and not even think twice about any fears or nervousness of having two. And I can't wait to see Uriah holding his brother or sister.

Now let's talk about this outfit! Certain items are worth the splurge - that great bag you've been eying, a nude heel that goes with literally everything, jeans that are like a second skin. The list goes on! While splurging may be difficult at the time, there isn't one investment piece that I regret purchasing. I find most of them when the item goes on sale or if I'm able to score them at Marshalls. I'm sure you've seen suede jackets all over Instagram or Pinterest, because they are huge this season. It's a great texture to add to your outfit and they come in so many more colors than typical leather jackets do. When I spotted this beauty at Marshalls for under $100, it wasn't hard to pull the trigger! I brought some more texture into the outfit with a feminine blouse by Alexis and killer studded heels. Opting for beautiful textures and details can elevate what may seem like a simple outfit to a chic one.

Tracy Reese dress & Tahari cashmere sweater -- c/o Marshalls
Sunglasses & Booties -- Nordstrom

Every season I purchase a piece or two that is a true investment. Last year it was an All Saints jacket and Stuart Weitzman boots; this year I decided to bite the bullet and purchase my first cashmere sweater. I wanted one that could be worn with countless outfits and was a color that would work well with items in my closet. I was shopping for Christmas decor at Marshalls and decided to walk through the sweater section. I wasn't expecting to find a cashmere sweater and was so surprised to find this amazing one. I didn't even try it on! it immediately went in my cart. This sweater is something that would normally be a couple hundred dollars and a little crying on the inside at the register, but instead I was able to score a beautiful 100% cashmere vest by Tahari at Marshalls for under $100! I've worn it countless times since picking it up just a few weeks ago; it's the perfect neutral color and I love the length. Paired with a studded Tracy Reese dress (also scored from Marshalls) and simple black booties made for a chic outfit for a stroll downtown.

This week marks 7 months and this little babe is moving 24/7. Just a few more months and we will find out if we're having a boy or a girl -- so excited! I will admit, dressing during pregnancy can be hard at times, but so far I haven't had any crazy mornings or "nothing fits" breakdowns. Stay tuned for some more maternity looks that are perfect for the holidays.

Entire Outfit - c/o Marshalls
Free People Blouse
Free People Flared Jeans
Bracelets
Tart Hat
Steve Madden Heels

Where do I even begin with this outfit?! I'm obsessed with every piece- head to toe!
As I've mentioned before, I love dressing with a boho flair and Free People always makes the perfect bohemian items that are super chic. While I love Free People, I can't bring myself to pay the high prices...it's painful! I always score all my favorite and on-trend FP items at Marshalls for a fraction of the price. And sometimes I can find them on the sale rack for even less! This shirt was on sale $29 (from $49.99) compared at the original price tag of $68! And can we please just talk about these amazing pants. I mean, come on!! I actually wore them while in New York with Marshalls and I got a surprise package a few weeks after with them. It was such a treat, especially because I loved them so much! I've seen them at a few Marshalls for only $19.99 -- which is amazing, because they're on the FP website for over $78! I paired a simple felt hat and tons of gold bangles to finish my look.
It's always a fun experience shopping at Marshalls because of the surprise factor. You never know what to expect and it's just like a treasure hunt. And I love the thrill of the hunt ;)

Thank you for reading!
