Suns Out, Summer Style Is In

Saturday, July 8, 2017

Whenever I travel my one nemesis is the 50lb weight limit. I swear it gets me every time! During my packing process I continue to edit down my items until I’m left with a capsule collection for my trip. This makes it easier to mix and match, especially because on vacation no time should be wasted deciding what to wear.

Keeping a specific color scheme in mind during your packing process gives you the freedom to mix and match items in your suitcase. With that being said, I do have a list of summer must-haves that always make their way into my travel bag.

White button-up
This is a staple for travel! Not only does it pair with virtually anything, but also it gives a polished look without compromising comfort. I scored this sleeveless button-up on the sale rack for $20 compare at $48. I couldn’t resist that button detailing on the back. Too cute!

Denim cutoffs
However you choose them- light washed, distressed, or in my case, embroidered – denim cutoffs always make their way into my travel bag. If these aren’t already on your summer checklist, they need to be! The pair had such intricate floral embroidery on the denim fabric, leaving me surprised to see the $39.99 price tag right next to the original designer tag of $88. Yes, please!

Comfy sandals
You might have varying plans for your travel, socomfortable sandals are always great to have in your suitcase. Imported from Italy, this chic, nude slide was the perfect shoe to add to my travel wardrobe. Plus the $24.99 price tag was very hard to refuse.

Pop of color
Don’t be afraid to add some bright colors to your look. Whether it’s a bright dress or simple jeans- a little color can go a long way! I picked up this clutch in my favorite hues not only for the $16.99 price tag, but because that textured raffia just screamed summer.

Marshalls has simplified my summer packing thanks to their on-trend items and affordable prices. I always know I’ll find exactly what I’m looking for and more!

Tropical Florals

Citizens of Humanity flares & Schutz heels - c/o Marshalls
Gorjana necklace c/o
Top - Target

During a recent trip to Target, one that we're all familiar with - you know, "the one where you go for detergent and end up leaving with a cart full of random items, $150 less in your bank account and no detergent" kinda shopping trip, I spotted this fun tropical blouse from the Who What Wear collection. I don't normally find items I love at Target, but I'm seriously obsessed with this blouse. The tiered chiffon layers with the bright floral print made this piece a quick favorite. Plus it's hard to resist a blouse that only cost $24.99, especially when you can claim you just bought extra goldfish crackers and *that's* why your Target trip cost extra.

Marshalls Pin Pals

Friday, October 14, 2016

Marshalls and Pinterest combined and created the most amazing love child ever - Pin Pals! Similar to Pinterest, Marshalls is that go-to spot for people to find inspiration and surprising finds that open them up to new possibilities. It's just like a treasure hunt - you can explore and find so many different items/styles you never knew you loved! With Pin Pals, Marshalls is taking it a step further with a surprising way to bring your "Pinspiration" to life. Because let's be real, who wouldn't love an unexpected package of goodies inspired by their Pinterest boards. I know what you're thinking -- where do I sign up?! I was so excited when I found out I was chosen to be on the sending end of this program. Dream come true! Whenever I have a gift to buy, Marshalls is my go-to spot; from designer items and on-trend shoes, to chic home items and adorable wrapping paper. They have got you covered! Needless to say, I had a blast researching my Pin Pals Pinterest boards to figure out what items they had on their wish lists and what their style was.

I started by picking out key items on the three ladies’ boards – cozy knits, denim, cute booties, and fall accessories. By narrowing the trends down, my goal was to build an outfit that they could easily mix and match with pieces already in their closets. I also wanted to incorporate an item from my favorite selection of the store- the contemporary section (sometimes the items have purple tags, because I love a good purple tag!)

One pinner had lots of denim button-ups and fall essentials on her board, so I picked out a beautiful denim dress (only $29.99 vs. $50) that I decided to layer accessories to for a completed look. I added designer suede booties, a studded cross body, and a colorful blanket scarf by Steve Madden. Blanket scarfs are one of my favorite accessories because of how incredibly versatile they are. It can be a scarf for one outfit, a shawl for the next, or belted over a dress- the possibilities are endless! I thought this lightweight scarf would be a great staple for her to have in her wardrobe, especially for this crisp fall weather.

The next pinner gravitated towards more of a capsule wardrobe for her board. Meaning she leaned towards staple items that she could mix and match and wear every season of the year. She pinned lots of neutral tones and simple, yet beautiful basics. One of my favorite brands that is always in stock at my local Marshalls is Cloth & Stone. They make incredibly soft, high-quality button ups, a piece every gal should have in her wardrobe. I knew I wanted to build an outfit for this pinner around a crisp white button up. The one I chose had a longer back with a high slit to show off her pants. I added a cropped sweater by Michael Stars with leather elbow patches ($39.99 with the original tag of $240!) that she could layer over the blouse or wear alone. The look is finished with a pair of black denim pants with zippered detailing and a grey felt hat by Tart.

The last pinner had so many items on her board that I had as well. I thought our styles were so similar, so it was very effortless to shop for her. She had a ton of flared jeans, off the shoulder tops and felt hats on her boards. I wanted to find her an amazing pair of flared jeans and stylist booties to elevate the look. I scored a distressed pair of jeans from The Cube (Marshalls Juniors’ Section) and peep-toe booties. In the contemporary section I found a beautiful silk blouse with bows on the sleeves and an off the shoulder neckline. I remembered this pinner had lots of hats on her board, and had to find the perfect black one to complete her look. I spotted another Tart felt hat for only $19.99 (total score!) and knew it would be the perfect finishing piece.

I had so much fun shopping for these girls and cant wait for them to receive their box of surprising finds! Want in on the fun? Follow the Marshalls Pin Pals Pinterest board, you never know when you'll find a #MarshallsSurprise.

Turquoise for Summer

Friday, July 15, 2016

Schutz Lace Up Heels - c/o Marshalls
Blouse - Here
Denim Mini - Pacsun
Squash Blossom Necklace - Zara (similar here and here)

When I think of summer accessories, my mind immediately goes to turquoise jewelry. It pairs well with just about any outfit and gives a little boho touch to your look. I was so excited to find this statement necklace at Zara and couldn't wait to style it. I went for an off-the-shoulder neckline, to give a nice canvas for the necklace to shine. I originally planned for a white blouse, but this pretty blue made for a nice accent for the jewelry.
Summer here is hot, so I'm usually in denim shorts! I recently picked up a few denim skirts because it's the same comfort and cool-ness that cutoffs have, just a little dressier! I'm kind of obsessed!

I'll be posting a remodel update for those who have asked! We're about 2/3 of the way done and I cant wait to share the progress. Now comes the fun part - paint color, trim, flooring, and my favorite- decorating!

Thank you for reading!

My love for vintage Levis

Friday, June 10, 2016

If there is one item that is a definite summer staple, hands down, it's a pair of vintage Levis shorts. Usually these are difficult to find, but thanks to Rhipped Denim, you can score a pair for yourself from the comfort of your own home!

Vinatage Shorts -- c/o Rhipped Denim
JOA Blouse & Sandals -- c/o Marshalls

If there is one item that is a definite summer staple, hands down it's a pair of vintage Levis shorts. Vintage Levis have the perfect fit for all women, a high-waisted cut and the softest denim ever. I'm constantly scouring vintage and thrift stores for Levis to restyle into cutoff shorts, but with their growing popularity, the stores are usually wiped clean for all vintage jeans. Boo! Whenever I'm wearing a pair of these shorts I'm always stopped by girls or I receive comments on where to buy them and I always feel horrible saying theres not really a spot that carries these bad boys. Finally. FINALLY! I've discovered an amazing retailer that salvages and restores vintage jeans into the cutest shorts, denim chokers and pants ever. And finally, I have a spot that I can recommend and guys, I'm not gonna lie...I want every.single.pair.
Rhipped Denim kindly sent over a pair for me to style and once I opened the cute packaging, I immediately fell in love with them. I chose a style from the patchy collection. I mean, vintage shorts with adorable patches -- what's not to love?! Oh and they're affordable, so that's a double-win in my book. Not only are these denim masterpieces amazing, but the founder Dawn puts her magic touch on every pair; from distressing and fraying to painting on beautiful floral designs-- you know you're getting a one of kind piece! Head over to Rhipped denim to stock up on summer pieces before they're all gone!
