May is here, with that comes warm sunshine and the feeling of summer. Meals are moved to the backyard, afternoons consist of picnics at the park, and succulents in bright planters are filling up my yard. I headed to Marshallsto grab a few summer essentials- a cute summer backpack, outdoor toys for Uriah, and ceramic planters for the backyard.
I’m new to the backpack trend and wanted one that was practical without sacrificing style. Once I walked in the accessory section, I spotted an amazing LeSportsac backpack in an amazing floral print. The bag is made with a lightweight fabric that I can easily wipe down and clean, making it the perfect bag for park dates and picnics. At $34.99 vs. $70- it was a steal! After making our way to the snack aisle and grabbing some Tupperware and snacks to fill them up with (hello, coconut cookies), we hit up the toy area. Uriah was in heaven! There were so many options and he was grabbing items left and right. He picked out a colorful bug catching net (only $8.99), miniature gardening tools ($4.99), and eco-friendly sand toys. When I saw the gardening tools, I thought it would be a fun activity for us to plant succulents together. Afterwards we picked twoceramic pots - both were under $10! The low price tag was surprising since both imported from Portugal. Uriah was so excited to use everything that once we got home we replanted a big succulent we had on our porch. He had such a blast using his little shovel and searching for worms. We finished our afternoon with a picnic at the park, enjoying the warm sun and fresh air.
Just in one Marshalls trip I was able to plan out some fun activities for our family and give the backyard a little pop of color. I’m looking forward to a summer filled with spontaneous trips to the park, relaxing in the backyard, and making memories with my boys. Summer really is becoming my favorite season!
