#OurLittleTrailer

Late last year, Nick and I got the brilliant idea to fix up a little trailer. 

We love the outdoors and camping, but let's face it -- tent camping with an infant is not very easy, nor is it fun. We had searched and searched until we found the perfect trailer. But it wasn't perfect or cute at all when we purchased it, in fact, it was downright disgusting. I didn't want to touch anything until we deep cleaned it and painted! The first step was stripping everything down, deep cleaning, fixing electric and painting. We hired an electrician to fix the electric parts and he finished it in only a few hours. All the lights and plugs, the fridge, and stove now work. Next up was paint,  I thought about going all white, but Nick convinced me that we needed a little color. After seeing the soft mint walls, I couldn't be happier with the result. We picked out fabrics and I started sewing like a mad woman. We found tons of cool fabric at Joanns (on clearance too!) and I sewed curtains, pillows, and cushions. This was the first time I sewed cushions and my secret for success is turning the fabric inside out and stapling everything. You will save so so much time and sanity. Trust me! 

Once we finished that, Nick laid the lovely hardwood...or should I say fake hardwood floors. We chose a vinyl laminate and they're are such beautiful floors - super dark, wide plank, and textured. They're durable but not lacking in the looks department. After that we put up the backsplash; we decided to go with a simple subway tile. This tile is special because it's actually stick on..who would have thought! The important part when redoing #outlittletrailer is keeping the weight light and also having decor durable for bumpy long car rides. So using real hardwood floors or tile backsplash wouldn't last for a long car ride. 

Once we had the main components complete, we were able to choose decor and little details like drawer pulls. We went with a brushed nickel for our drawer pulls and door handles. This kept with the cool color scheme and added a great metallic accent for the trailer. Lastly we started to decorate-- my favorite part. This is where we were able to incorporate our style and add cute elements to really dress up the trailer. I picked up most of the decor at Marshalls: bed sheets, throw blankets, candles, pillows, wall art and coffee decor. The restyled trailer project was insanely fun- it was a blast day dreaming about ideas and the working hard to make them happen. 

We went on our first trip a few weeks back and it was a whole new experience. I don't think we will ever go back to tent camping and with a cute trailer like ours and why would you want to?!This isn't a very detailed tutorial, so feel free to ask questions or request any restoring details and I would be happy to anwser them.
